Gaitan is not Spanish. The name comes from Galicia and refers to the Galician bagpipe called a "gaita." Galicia is in the northwestern corner of the Iberian Peninsula part of what is known as Celtic-Iberia.

I love this!! I guess our family stayed true to the name. My last name is Gaitan, it was my Grandmother's married name. They were Migrant workers..never stayed in one place too long, but yes, very religious.
